Submit

Our submission process is entirely online on Submittable. After creating an account, upload your work under the appropriate category you wish to submit. This account also allows you to monitor the status of your submission.

Here are our guidelines…

Anyone is welcome to submit. Please limit your submissions to five poems, two short stories, two literary essays, and five works of visual art per edition. We’re especially excited about receiving genre-defiant submissions, such as poetry comics, prose poems, flash fiction, flash essays, lyric essays, graphic novel or memoir excerpts, and speculative nonfiction. (Submit poetry comics and graphic novel or memoir excerpts as visual art.) Only previously unpublished works, either in print or online, will be considered for publication.

Please use Times New Roman 11- or 12-point font, one-inch margins, and one space between sentences. Double-space, if it makes sense to do so (for example, double-spacing a lyric essay may look weird if the essay frequently uses white space).

We evaluate submissions in a blind-review process, so please remove all identifying information from your works (title pages, headers, document file titles, etc.). Submit one work per file. Do not submit group submissions. If, for example, you submit five poems, do not put all five poems into one document. Create five separate documents for each poem.

Visual art should be at least 4×6 inches and sent as a .png, .raw or high-quality .jpeg file with at least 300dpi and a size of at least 1MB. Please include medium and dimensions in your cover letter.

Visit us at grubstreet.submittable.com to submit your work. Email submissions will not be considered.

It is assumed that all submissions are original creations. Please credit your sources. We look forward to receiving your work and wish you the best of luck in your literary and artistic endeavors.
